Australian higher education institutions are widely recognised for their quality of education and flexibility in course delivery. Australian universities have also developed a solid international reputation in the field of research.

There are 44 self-accrediting higher education institutions in Australia---roughly 40 of these are universities. In addition, there are over 100 private education providers accredited by State and Territory Governments offering higher education courses.
