Work as a Doctor in Australia

Country practice --- Dr Robert Vrij

Dr Robert Vrij and family'People here are really friendly and make you feel at home.'

Dr Robert Vrij is no stranger to working in rural areas and has spent time working as a doctor in The Netherlands, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Scotland. Originally from Rotterdam in The Netherlands, Robert feels that Australia offers the best of both Africa and Europe with good schools, a great climate and lots of space.

Robert is a participant in the 5 Year Overseas Trained Doctor Scheme in a rural Victorian town and practises as a general practitioner. Dr Vrij thinks it is important for overseas trained doctors to consider their families’ needs before migrating to another country.

He loves the Australian lifestyle and is happy with his choice to live in this country. He and his family love the great sporting facilities, swimming, food and the bush. Robert feels that doctors who are new to Australia can gain tremendously by engaging actively in the local community.
