Medicare Australia

Medicare Australia delivers national health programs to the Australian community. It has an international reputation for reliable, secure and innovative delivery of health claims, payments and information management.

Among other things, Medicare Australia is responsible for administering payments and information for programs such as Medicare (including provision of Medicare Provider Numbers), the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), the Australian Childhood Immunisation Register, Australian Organ Donor Register, the Practice Incentives Program and the General Practice Immunisation Incentives scheme (GPII).

Medicare Australia also detects and prevents medical fraud and inappropriate servicing by doctors, provides international consultancy services, and is playing a key role in the development of a range of ambitious and innovative health and e-health initiatives for the future.
