Even if you have come from an English speaking background, the cultural differences you will find in Australia may be quite distinct. Sense of humour, expectations of behaviour, shared value systems and so on, can all be sources of misunderstanding.
Australia is a tolerant society. We expect others to be tolerant of differences too. It is important to have an understanding of Australian customs and traditions to better understand the community in which you will be living.
