English language training
If you have identified an overseas trained doctor (OTD) who wishes to undertake English language training in preparation for taking the IELTS or OET examinations, there are many educational institutions that offer preparatory courses for these examinations in Australia.
In addition, there are a number of courses aimed at English training for doctors and other health professionals, which may be run by government or private sector organisations. English conversation classes are also available in many places. The OTDs might also try the local migrant resource centres for assistance in this area. You may like to refer OTDs to some of the resources listed in Australian medical terminology, which is located in the Cultural awareness section of DoctorConnect.
To find IELTS and OET preparation courses, as well as courses to help OTDs with English for use in the health professions, try searching on the Internet using the keywords: English courses health professionals and also IELTS and OET preparation
A few example organisations are offered below, but this list is by no means comprehensive and you should conduct your own search on the Internet to find other courses and places of study.
