Medical recruitment agencies

Overseas trained doctors and Australian medical employers are able to use a medical recruitment agency of their choice to provide assistance with their recruitment needs. Information is provided below to assist you to identify a suitable medical recruitment agency.

Government funded medical recruitment

The Department of Health and Ageing has contracted several medical recruitment agencies to assist appropriately qualified overseas trained doctors to find work as a general practitioner (GP/family physician) or specialist in Australia. Overseas trained doctors may wish to contact one of these contracted medical recruitment agencies to receive assistance to work in Australia as a GP or specialist.

These recruitment agencies are also helping Australian employers to fill eligible medical vacancies. Fees for recruitment in these circumstances will be met by the Department of Health and Ageing. Australian employers are advised to check the eligibility of their medical vacancy before contacting one of these agencies.

Australian Association of Medical Recruitment Agents (AAMRA)

The Australian Association of Medical Recruitment Agents (AAMRA) has been established under the auspices of the Recruitment and Consulting Services Association (RCSA).

All AAMRA members need to comply with the RCSA's Constitution, Code for Professional Practice, Disciplinary and Dispute Resolution Process and other compliance criteria established by the RCSA. Members of AAMRA also need to have met accreditation requirements established by the RCSA.
